Scope and content

2, Cheyne Gardens. - Has discussed the 'pay of the B. M. [British Museum] people' with Charles, who says that if he is provided with their salaries, so that he can compare them with those in the Civil Service at Whitehall, he will 'move in the matter' if they prove to be lower 'without some due reason'; he seems 'a pretty good hand at getting things done'. Asks Bob to get hold of 'a tabulated statement' of British Museum employees' salaries 'at the different stages of their careers'; he himself will get one for Whitehall. Believes that if the situation is as bad as Bob believes at present, there is a chance of something being done.
