The Shiffolds, Holmbury St. Mary, Dorking. - It is 'so kind' of her to suggest him coming to Wallington for a few nights after the Lake Hunt, and he is sure he would very much like to, but is 'afraid it will hardly be possible'. Has an appointment in London on Tuesday evening, and should be back here on Wednesday morning as they have guests staying with Bessie 'for Whitsuntide', whom he would 'miss altogether' if he 'put off coming home another day'. Hopes she will not mind.
They have George's book [British History in he Nineteenth Century, 1782–1901] and have started 'reading it aloud'. The weather has been 'lovely these last few days, and is now pleasantly cooler'. Bessie 'enjoyed her visit to Welcombe very much'; is glad she could visit Julian, who 'seems to be better now'.
Hopes that his parents are not too tired by their journeys, and 'found Aunt Annie well'.
