Scope and content

Paris. - He and Julian arrived safely this morning after a pleasant drive from Calais; they slept at Beauvais. They have lunched with Julian's friends the Schaeffers and will go on to Florence by the 8.30 train this evening. Hears things are 'not going well at Moscow [the 'Big Four' conference?]' but has not yet seen an English newspaper; hopes to get one at the Gare de Lyons. Is well apart for his 'sore toe', and Julian is very well. They ate the sandwiches in the morning and the eggs later in the afternoon, and were very grateful to Mrs Lane [?]
