[George and Janet's] children are 'very good and happy'; the little girl [Mary] is 'awed by the empty part of the house' but likes this part of it, and the garden in snow, and has a good appetite, while Humphry is 'a little dear'. Robert can keep [Montagu?] Butler's verses; was pleased by 'the tribute to his sympathetic and inspiring mode of teaching'; interested by his accounts of trees falling, as there has been 'sad havoc' played with the shrubs in the carriage way.
