Portée et contenu

Wallington, Cambo, Morpeth. - Originally enclosing something 'from dear old [Lord?] Reay'; was glad to see his hand-writing again. Caroline is keeping quite well; yesterday they drove to church in the pony-chaise and walked back, but she will not go again now that it is colder. They are thinking very much of Elizabeth; the first week of September and the German advances in northern France was an 'awful time' and it was a great relief to get them out of north-west France; it will be a very great relief, especially for Holland, to get them out of Belgium.
