Scope and content
Wallington, Cambo, Morpeth. - Thanks Robert for his letter; his first thought is for Elizabeth's health; is very thankful that she is 'fairly well' [after a miscarriage]; was very anxious about the 'work and watching' which would have be involved in Julian's treatment in London when she was in 'so delicate a state' herself. Caroline is 'full of thought' about her; she herself is coping with the change of weather quite well, but will have to be very careful this winter. On Saturday, almost the whole village stayed up all night to fight the fire in the Newbiggin hay-stack of forty or fifty tons; fortunately the farm buildings were saved.
