      TRANSCRIPT:

      Tuesday evening.

My darling tho’ I’ve tried to prevent you coming I’m fearfully pleased to see you.

I couldnt meet the boat but I think if you were to come here at 3. or a minute after, I could probably get away for the afternoon.

You can get a very slow fly in Boulogne which will bring you.

Thursday morning I can have with you too. I suppose you cant get a motor & we’ll go to a delicious place about 8 miles from here. It doesnt matter it will be perfect anyhow.

We wont dine at your hotel which is full of dreary people but at a small place called Mony. You might order dinner there at 7.30. They are so slow if you dont. You’ll have lots of time it will give you something to do.

Dont be apalled† (2 ps?) by the exterior its quite good. Its in a street called Rue Monsigny. I’ll draw you an exquisite picture

[There follows a sketch map of Boulogne, showing the location of ‘Mony’.]

      Doesnt that show you well.

I am excited at seeing you. Pamela has written urging Russia and nearly persuaded me to run {1}.

      Much love
      V.
