These papers (with a few exceptions) were formerly inserted in printed books and pamphlets formerly belonging to Greg and each is marked in the top left-hand corner with the inventory number of the item from which it was removed.

This class comprises letters (1-115), notes (116-31), newspaper cuttings (132-54), photographs (155-74), and printed material (175-95). Most of the letters are arranged in alphabetical order by the names of the correspondents, but the two at the end of the first sequence (114-15) are not, probably because their writers were unidentified when the items were numbered. The letter from Alexander Moring (65) was attributed by the original cataloguer to A. Morris, and one of the letters from Una Ellis-Fermor (96) to E. M. W. Tillyard.

The last three items (196-8) were mistakenly catalogued with the papers of Sir James Frazer and were returned to this collection after this catalogue was first compiled.

6a-b were originally numbered as a single item (‘6’), as were 116-31 (‘116’) and 132-95 (‘117’). 93a was omitted from the original sequence. The numbering was adjusted when the papers were catalogued in 2019.
