      Note

      E. M. Forster, Desmond MacCarthy and Lascelles Abercrombie both allude to Trevelyan's "Hippogriff" between 1905 and 1910 (see 3/5, 4/287 and 1/110); in February 1920 Trevelyan writes to MacCarthy saying that he has been looking again at it but is not sure if there is anything 'marketable' there (4/287).
