Scope and content
Postmarked Englefield Green. - Has got Phaedra [in "The Bride of Dionysus"] 'well started' at last. Feels that the skeleton score method is a mistake for him, and is glad there are only four hundred more bars in that state; if the fifth act were also in skeleton he thinks he would have to 'make a fresh start'. After getting through the fourth act, will 'over-haul' his last piano trio before doing the rest, which he hopes will 'go with some zest'. Thinks that rewriting will be most fun, and that things which bore him now will be 'the most attractive part of the job'.
