Recording author, title, date of publication and format. Shelf-marks and other annotations often added in pencil (including some notes of Tennyson's birth year only, suggesting that the catalogue was begun before his death in 1892. Some annotations in another hand and referring to 'R.H.S' in red ink, and the inclusion of slips for items post-dating Shepherd's death, indicate that this catalogue was kept up by another.
