Scope and content

Georgie 'seems very well and happy, and is getting on very well' [as a new boy at Wixenford]; he 'did not go to best early on Friday and Saturday', but will from now on. The new boys are Fenby [?], Hall, Hoare and Georgie; believes another is coming soon. They played cricket yesterday; thinks Georgie enjoyed it 'very much'. Adds a note until the heading 'Private' that he is very sorry, but he lost his umbrella today; it was 'very foolish' of him and he asks his mother if she could send him another before Sunday; will pay for it himself next holiday. Continues under the heading 'Public' that his 'accounts are all right'. Will 'try very hard to work this term'; they are going to study the 2nd book of Virgil's Aeneid and Euripides, and he is going to do Euclid. Thinks Georgie 'will be very happy', he is reading a library book called The Life of a Scotch Naturalist [by Thomas Edward].
