The Manor House, Mells, Frome.—Thanks him for his letter and telegram; it doesn’t matter about Frida. She gathers that Montagu did not stay with Bill, and that his expedition was rather unsuccessful. Has been shopping in Frome. Asks whether he minds others coming with them to Dorchester. Haldane has heard that Lloyd George is going to the War Office. Asks him to telegraph the time of his arrival at Salisbury.

The Manor House, Mells, Frome
June 16th 1916
My darling thank you for yr letter and telegram. It doesnt really matter about Frida at all. I wrote to Sir E. & told him to telephone the address to you. Are you taking Lee. I would.
I gather you didnt stay with Bill. I hope you saw him but I’m afraid your expedition has been rather a failure on the whole. I wish you’d been here. Its perfect today. After a very lazy morning we’ve been to Frome where I bought 17 tumblers, rather the same shape as ours tho’ not so nice, which we can use always and keep your lovely ones. Then K. Barbara and I walked back by the Iron Valley and now we may play tennis. I feel rather slack about it.
Bluey arrives tomorrow. Its possible that they may come to Dorchester with us in the McLaren motor. Do you feel strongly about it.
Haldane writes to Francis that he hears Ll G. is to go to the W.O. Is that the gossip. Of course they are all terribly against it here. Will he keep on Munitions too. I hope not.
You must telegraph as early as you can what time you arrive at Salisbury as its 30 miles from here.
Much love
Venetia
