      TRANSCRIPT:

      Penrhôs, Holyhead
      Aug 23rd 1916

Darling no letter from you to day, I’d hoped to have heard some details of the explosion but I may get some thing by the 2nd post. We havent stirred all day, its poured and is still, but in spite of it I’m now going for a short walk after tea.

Dont forget to let me know your Saturday plans, I have to get to Crewe at the unearthly hour of 2.30. Please look and see if there arent a lot of bills lying about (closed up dull looking envelopes I mean) and have them all put into an envelope and sent on. I’m very glad the film has been stopped who finally jacked up about it.

No news here, everyone much the same as when you left but I’m enjoying the peaceful life. Since Corrybrough its the first time I’ve been so long on end in one place in the country and its very nice. I only wish you had been here too. If you dont like the box Diana sent as your birthday present we’ll give it to Nancy!

I shall leave this open to add a line if I hear from you and to curse you if I dont!

      Much love
      V.

I think you write rotten letters. You give me no news. Curse you. I shant write to you again
