TRANSCRIPT:
Friday evening.
My darling Were you surprised at my french telegram and could you understand it, or had Reggie to translate? I cant come and meet you at 3.30, but will you get a motor or cab or something and come out here, hôtel Bellevue being our hospital at about 4 or 4.15, both of you or you alone and we’ll have a delicious walk along sea pinky cliffs, or if you’d rather & cant get any-thing to bring you out I’ll come into Boulogne & be with you about 4.45. But Boulogne is a bloody place and this is rather delicious.
If you have to leave Sunday I can be with you till you go, at† but I couldnt see much of you Monday, I could be off from 10.30 to 12.30 in the morning, but we’ll talk about that.
Tomorrow I have Anthony I think for the afternoon, he arrives at lunch & I get a half day. After Sunday tho’ my fun is over.
We are on the telephone here so if you like to ring me up when you arrive do.
I think if you came to fetch me I might if we are as slack as we are now get away about 4, if you cant I shall have to stay on till 4.30.
I’ve never longed to see anyone so much.
I saw Geoffrey yesterday who … no I’ll tell you everything everyone said when I see you. How glorious it will be.
If by any ghastly chance we are fearfully busy and I cant get away I can always have a glimpse of you here, but that is too fearful to contemplate. If this is the only letter you find at the Folkestone it means its all right. I am happy about it.
Bless you a thousand times.
Your most loving
V.
If your train is late and you arent here by 4.30 I shall come to the hotel.
V. S.
